ASTM B564 UNS N08800 Weld Neck / Blind / Slip On Flanges Manufacturer In India
What is the difference between ASME and ANSI Incoloy 800 flanges?
Incoloy flanges belong to a category of austenitic stainless steel designed with a composition of nickel-iron and chromium coupled with copper and molybdenum as additives. ASME and ANSI are two important organizations in the piping industries; both have different aspects and features.
- ASME Incoloy 800 flanges are designed based on standards set by organizations. ANSI Incoloy 800 flanges are designed, taking into account the codes and standards of mechanical devices.
- ANSI flanges are manufactured following approximately 9500 standards. ASME flanges are designed with 600 codes obtained from different mechanical devices.
- ASME flanges try and find real-life solutions to mechanical engineering problems, while ANSI flanges help in improving the position of the U.S. markets within global marketing systems..
How does an Alloy 800 weld neck flange work?
Incoloy 800 weld neck flanges are components that are designed with a long protruding tapered face. These flanges are directly butt-welded on the piping module with the help of a butt-weld. A weld neck flange provides support to pipe modules during high pressure and temperature grinding and movement within the system. The welded flange provides a reliable connection across the system while evenly distributing the weight across the piping modules. The Incoloy 800 Flanges help in creating a smooth transition between different piping components and prevent any turbulence. They are generally used in reducing low cycle fatigue that is caused due to expansion of the line and in cases where other variable forces influence the system.
Can you bolt a flat face flange to an ASTM B564 UNS N08800 raised face flange?
Flat and raised flanges are two face types of this grade. A flat flange is designed with a similar height as the bolting line of the flange. In the ASTM B564, UNS N08800 raised face flange the, gasket surface is positioned over the bolting line in the module. A flat face flange shouldn’t be bolted or connected to a raised face flange as it will most likely leak due to its versatile connection. For the connection to work properly the raised face has to be removed, and a full soft gasket has to be fitted to balance out the flange setting. This helps in protecting the thin, brittle cast iron flange from spurning, ensuring optimum functionality within the system.
